profile!

haha i found these photos + a profile report in some mini scrapbook in one of my record files my dad keeps while checking details for NS registration nonsense. its from my daycare place when i was 3! haha see see!

hmm i think this was 2 years later in kindergarten. no idea why its in my toddler file. eew cowboy suit.

This is the front of the report

And this is what the report says ---

I. Initiative
Bennett shows initiative in choosing desired activitiy, materials or playmates with a short sentence, eg. "I want to play 'doggie' in the Book Area with Jeannette". He identifies problems quite readily and often shows maturity and persistence in solving them, eg. on 14 Oct 93 when Nicolas wanted Ben's binoculars, Ben went to the shelf and took two toilet rolls for Nicolas to use as binoculars. Also, on 12 Nov 93, Ben told the teacher to punch the dinosaur if the dino bit her. WHen teacher said that dino would bite off her hand, Ben suggeted, "How about using your leg?" and demonstrated with a fierce kick in the air.

II. Social Relations
Ben is able to work on complex projects with other children, as in sharing labour, following rules and appears to receive social support from a friend (Jean) and shows loyalty to her. Conflict situations with Ben do not last long as he knows the solutions to them by readily sharing the materials or taking turn, eg. on a few occasions, Nicolas insisted on taking the yellow cup from Ben and each time, Ben willingly gave it to him without a fuss. Ben also responds appropriately to the feelings of others, eg. when Nicolas fell in the garden and bumped his forehead, the next few days Ben offered to hold Nick's hand when they went out to the garden so that Nick would not fall again. (EDIT: ok this is quite gay T.T)

III. Creative Representation
Ben's favourite activity is to build with the large wooden blocks, making complex structures with details, like which room is for whom. He is able to give clear explanations on what and how he is making the structures. While Ben enjoys exploring and dabbling with art materials, his drawings are just simple representations and he needs further encouragement in this area. Ben participates in cooperative pretend play with Jean, often assuming the role of the 'doggie' and going on shopping trips, cooking and helping to look after 'Betty' the doll. (EDIT: this is NOT TRUE. Must have been someone else who was THOUGHT to be me -.-)

IV. Music and Movement
Bennett is very agile for his age andhas good balance when moving fast (EDIT: i agrees!), eg. he very confidently swings fast on the swing, runs up and down the climber and enjoys strong rocking motios of the see-saw. He is also quite adept at manipulating small objects and things requiring small motor movements, eg. threading, zipping and correct holding of writing instruments. (EDIT: evidently i was a highly talented child) Ben follows spoken instructions for more complex sequences of movements, eg. putting one hand on the head and the other on the stomach. Ben also enjoys singing of songs (EDIT: who would have thought i was already musically-inclined at 3!) and responds to the beat of music with simple movements, like clapping and waving with the ribbon stick (EDIT: it was a very manly ribbon stick). While he does not always sing along with the class, in recent weeks he has been singing more frequently and on some occasions sang solos (EDIT: LOL this is kinda weird).

V. Language and Literacy
Ben follows multistep or complex directions. He uses sentences that include two or more ideas with descriptive details, eg. on 13 Dec 93, he said, "Last time, I go Junction 7 (8?) and see two Mickey Mouse and Goofy, but I didn't see Donald Duck. He was at the back. I can hear him." (EDIT: remember that I was 3 -.-) Ben enjoys talking about where he had been and what he saw, about his family and cousins, Nicole, Hannah and Jon-Jon and about his favourite TV characters, X-Man and Flashman (EDIT: that would be X-Men and The Flash). While he enjoys being read to, Ben will pick up a book to read quietly by himself during reading time. He loves to listen to stories and will pay close attention, following the pictures and the print. He can identify and write the letters of the alphabet but seldom likes to display his knowledge.

VI. Logic and Mathematics
Ben can count confidently to 15 and, usually, correctly to beyond 30, needing help with some numbers here. He correctly uses words like 'not, some, all, more or less'; words that describe spatial relations like 'on top, in front, over, under, behind' and other related words. He has a good grasp of seriation by size, length and height and can compare three or more things using comparison words appropriately (smaller, smallest). Ben describes or represents a series of events in the correct sequence, eg. he has a good idea of the class daily routine, that "after clean-up time is recall time, after recall time is small group time, after small group time is outdoor time".

Then theres this foolscap paper attached behind with this complex diagram entitled "The Great Invention". Anyway, after leafing through dusty yellowed things and discovering many top secret, not-meant-for-my-eyes documents and printed emails and what not, i understand a lot more about how much my parents did for me since i was young.

Sigh what happened to me >.< I'm so proud of my 3-year old self :)
